U.S. Century Bank recently hosted an evening reception for members of The League Against Cancer (La Liga Contra el Cancer). The Bank and its employees raised more than $10,000 for the cause and presented a check to the organization. The Bank’s top fundraisers also received recognition plaques during the event. More than 25 Bank employees also volunteered their time to La Liga during their annual telethon.
“This year specifically, is a difficult year for many of our community’s important causes. As a community bank headquartered in South Florida, it’s important for U.S. Century Bank employees and executives to support La Liga and we hope to do more in the coming years,” said Octavio Hernández, President and C.E.O. “We are pleased to demonstrate our support for this cause and applaud our employees who are contributing of their time and effort to La Liga,” he added.

The League Against Cancer / Liga Contra el Cancer was founded in Miami 1975 as a community- based, not-for-profit organization providing free medical care to needy Cancer patients. More than 350 Florida physicians, who are board-certified in their specialties, volunteer their services to the League Against Cancer. The dedication and support of volunteer physicians and on-going assistance of volunteers maintain administrative costs at about 12% of operational budgets. League Against Cancer is the last resort for cancer victims who have no financial resources or health insurance. Since 1975, more than 50,000 low-income, uninsured men, women and children have received world-class medical treatment, screenings and support at our facilities.
