It was a grand ribbon cutting/business building event when Wachovia, A Wells Fargo Company, invited Aventura Marketing Council members to a grand opening celebration for the new banking store, Aventura North Financial Center, conveniently located on Aventura Boulevard.
For the special occasion, Wachovia made a very generous gesture by donating $25,000 to the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center as presenting sponsor of their grand opening event on October 23rd featuring Broadway powerhouse singer Patti LuPone. They also donated $500 to five AMC member organizations: Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Holocaust Documentation & Education Center, Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center and Samuel Scheck Hillel Community Day School/Ben Lipson Hillel Community High School.
Wachovia leaders including Beth Lyon, Aventura North Store Manager; Hector Ponte, Countyline Community Bank President; Martin Morin, District Manager; Shelley Freeman, Florida Community Banking President; and Kathryn Dinkin, Southeast Florida Regional President extended a grandiose welcome to AMC business and community leaders impressed by how the new banking store serves the needs of residents and small businesses on a grand scale.
“Our state-of-the-art banking store will allow our customers to do all their banking transactions safely and securely, with the quality of customer service that Wachovia is known for,” Ponte said.
Guests were especially impressed by Wachovia’s interior design featuring natural light and a wall-size mural depicting an historical heritage view of Aventura.
Wachovia’s grand entrance to the community is also receiving rave reviews for being a LEED-certified banking store (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) using recyclable materials and an environmentally friendly, envelope-free, multi-lingual ATM. These ATMs, now in every Wachovia banking store, have saved 560 tons of paper – the equivalent of more than 100,000 trees worldwide.
Aventura Mayor Susan Gottlieb and Commissioners Billy Joel, Bob Diamond, Teri Holzberg, Zev Auerbach, Vice Mayor Michael Stern and City Manager Eric Soroka helped cut the ribbon on the new Wachovia banking store as Beth Lyon presented the $25,000 donation to the City of Aventura for the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.
“This landmark theater will provide a wide range of cultural and educational opportunities for all age groups, all ethnicities, all of our residents and neighbors to enjoy,” Gottlieb said.
While the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center will play a grand role in building bridges between cultures, encouraging community involvement and promoting quality education, Wachovia shares a commitment to community outreach initiatives focused on improving quality of life and making a positive difference in neighborhoods.
As part of the festivities, Wachovia held a “Customer Welcome Week” providing information on everything from education finances, retirement planning and homeownership – to establishing a strong credit history and the latest financial tools for small business. Information on these and more topics can always be obtained at the Aventura banking store where friendly associates are available to address customers’ financial needs and help them succeed financially.
