Aventura Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC) has kicked-off the new calendar year on its own turf with the groundbreaking of its East Patient Tower. Spanning three floors with structural support for 10 to meet future needs, the East Patient Tower adds 86,900 square feet and 60 private rooms, providing for a seamless, boutique, concierge style private-room patient experience throughout the entire facility. As a tertiary hospital, the new patient tower will support the complexity of the medical cases treated and complex procedures performed, which go beyond the capacity of a community hospital and include coronary artery bypass surgery, open heart surgery, neurosurgery, and minimally-invasive surgical procedures, such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The new patient tower follows other hospital accomplishments including serving as a state-designated Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and academic teaching institution for 127 combined residents and fellows specializing in the fields of emergency medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary/critical care, hospice & palliative care, psychiatry and geriatrics, among others.
As a mission-driven facility of Hospital Corporation of America – East Florida Division, Aventura Hospital and Medical Center is above all else, devoted to the care and improvement of human life. “We are honored to have provided life-saving emergency care in 2018 alone to over 63,000 community members who were either transported to our facility by area first responders or who sought medical attention through our 24/7, hospital-based Emergency Room”, stated Lee Chaykin, Chief Executive Officer, Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. Privileged to serve as the CEO in support of the community’s strategic healthcare needs, Mr. Chaykin is reengaging community members both within and outside the hospital’s campus to deliver on a superior patient experience.
Lastly, in honor of Heart Health Month, Aventura Hospital and Medical Center will be offering an engaging physician panel discussion as part of The Largest Cardiac Network Lecture Series. The free event will take place on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 11am. Lunch will be provided.
