As part of the Aventura Marketing Council’s partnership with the Dept. of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), AMC Board Member Gary Pyott, Florida President of The Continental Group, and his wife Carolina, were invited to a VIP ‘behind the scenes” visit with the National Guard at the recent Grand Prix held in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The Florida ESGR Committee, chaired by Phillip Speake, invited a small group of top-calibre business leaders and elected officials as part of the March 26th Military Appreciation Day and the March 27th Race Day. The VIP guests were credentialed to go behind the scenes, meet the driver, and see the garages and the pits. Guests were also placed on a Department of Defense military order, allowing them to stay overnight at Macdill Air Force Base.
After hearing from John Barnes, CEO of Panther Racing and military cadets, the Pyotts and other guests listened as Speake explained the role of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee. “The ESGR is a Department of Defense Agency established to gain and maintain active support and assist with employment opportunities for returning Guardsmen and Reservists when needed with all private and public firms.”
“This was a fantastic experience… well organized and very interesting!” said Pyott. “I look forward to supporting the ESGR’s efforts and working with them to place Reserve and National Guard personnel upon their return from serving their country.”
