100 Days of Action, with Much More to Come

One hundred days ago, I stood before my family, neighbors, and our City and recited the oath of office. I promised to lead with transparency, with urgency, and above all, with purpose. One hundred days later, I’m proud to say that those weren’t just words — they were a commitment. And in District 4, when promises are made, promises are kept.

Manolo Reyes, my predecessor, left big shoes to fill. His service to District 4 is still fresh in our community’s memory, and we approach this work with both respect for his legacy and determination to build upon it.

We launched the C.A.S.A. Master Plan — the first of its kind in our city. It’s not just a slogan. It’s a vision rooted in four core pillars: Community, Adaptability, Safety, and Affordability. CASA means “home” in Spanish, and these pillars represent the wishes and dreams of our residents that I heard while knocking on doors. These pillars have become the framework for every policy we pursue and every initiative we advance — from traffic calming near schools, to creating more accessible housing options, planting trees and investing in neighborhood parks.

We rolled out the S.A.V.E. Program — Stormproof Assistance & Value Enhancements — which reduces permit fees for homeowners making storm-resilient and energy-efficient upgrades like shutters, impact windows, generators, and solar panels. This is government at its best — removing financial and bureaucratic barriers for residents trying to do the right thing and protect their homes.

We planted the first 50 trees in our 365 Days, 365 Trees campaign — a long-term commitment to increasing shade, improving air quality, and beautifying every corner of District 4. It’s about more than greenery; it’s about public health, climate resilience, and the promotion of open spaces.

We launched Sabor D4, a video series celebrating the local restaurants and small businesses that make our neighborhoods unique. We’re highlighting family-run eateries across the district, promoting economic growth and community pride — one cafecito, croqueta, and empanada at a time.

We also made major strides on public space access through our S.H.A.R.E. Initiative — Schools Helping Activate Recreation for Everyone. In partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, we’re unlocking recreational areas on public school campuses — like basketball courts, playgrounds, and athletic fields — for after-hours and weekend community use. In neighborhoods where green space is scarce, we’re making better use of what we already have.

Alongside these major initiatives, we’ve advanced critical legislation and reforms that reflect our district’s values:

  • Senior Tax Relief — a resolution to pursue eliminating city property taxes for long-time senior residents of modest means.
  • Police Headquarters Relocation — taking the first major step toward securing a safe, permanent, modern home for our first responders.
  • New Parks Fund — creating a pathway for residents to donate directly to the improvement of Miami’s public spaces.

None of this was inevitable. It happened because we listened. We planned. We got to work.

These aren’t just policy wins. They’re people wins. They’re a reflection of what’s possible when local government stops making excuses and starts delivering results.

Because this has always been about you.

You deserve a public servant who can present accomplishments in his first 100 days — and one who doesn’t slow down after that. You deserve streets that are safe, parks that are open, a permitting process that respects your time, and a city that doesn’t just hear your concerns — but acts on them.

If the first 100 days were about setting the tone, the rest of my term will be about setting a standard. One built on trust, service, and the belief that progress isn’t promised — it’s earned.

We’ve laid the foundation. Now we’ll build the future — our home, our CASA. Together.
