2026 Lucid Gravity is charming and bold

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Everyone knows actor Timothee Chalamet. Right?

He’s the 2020s “it” actor who is in every big movie of the past five years. He’s young, cutting edge, dangerous and so is the Lucid Motors SUV called Gravity he is driving in those great commercials we see on TV.

By paying Chalamet the big bucks Lucid is saying, “we are charming and bold” and so is the Gravity. They aren’t kidding.

Lucid didn’t design the Gravity to be merely quick for its size. The $80,000 SUV was made to embarrass performance vehicles. Depending on trim, output ranges from 560 horsepower in the Touring model to a staggering 1,070 horsepower in the Dream Edition.

You read that right – more than 1,000 HP generated by two electric motors. That translates into acceleration numbers that feel almost surreal in a family hauler. Some versions hit 60 miles per hour in roughly three seconds — faster than many sports cars.

But straight-line speed is only part of the story. The Gravity’s electric architecture, low center of gravity and available rear-wheel steering give it agility that defies its size. It handles with precision, which is a reminder that electric performance isn’t just about torque, but control.

This is an SUV that doesn’t lumber. It glides, surges and launches.

Range anxiety has long defined the electric SUV conversation. The Gravity aims to end it.

With an EPA-estimated range reaching as high as roughly 450 miles in certain configurations, Lucid is pushing the upper limits of what’s currently possible in a large luxury EV.

Even more impressive is how quickly that range can be replenished. The vehicle supports ultra-fast DC charging, making it capable of adding substantial driving distance in minutes rather than hours.

In practical terms, the Gravity makes long-distance electric travel not just possible but convenient.

Where many electric SUVs still feel like raised crossovers, the Gravity prioritizes interior volume in a way few competitors match. It can seat up to seven adults, with a genuinely usable third row. Total cargo capacity can exceed 120 cubic feet, including a front trunk.

Yet the packaging never feels bulky. The exterior is aerodynamic and sculpted, shaped as much by efficiency as by aesthetics. Gravity slices through the air with remarkable efficiency for something this large.

Inside, the design leans minimalist and futuristic, with curved displays, sustainable materials and an expansive glass canopy that blurs the line between interior and sky. The cabin feels more like a modern lounge than a cockpit.

I think Chalamet hitched his reputation to the right wagon. The 2026 Lucid Gravity is miles ahead of most competitors on the road and into the horizon. Give it a spin and tell me what you think.
