More than 250 inner city kids from four different elementary schools recently visited Jungle Island as part of a new School Attendance Incentive Program of the Biscayne Bay Kiwanis Club and Jungle Island. Participating Miami-Dade County Public Schools included Morningside, Phillis Wheatley, Eneida M. Hartner and Frederick Douglas. For most of the youngsters, the visit to Jungle Island and interactions with some of the world’s most rare animals was their first.
