Cancer Link’s “Peace in Pink” luncheon packed the ballroom at Jungle Island on Oct. 9 with more than 750 guests attending to support this annual event to benefit breast cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
During its 27-year history, Cancer Link has raised more than $2 million for the center which serves as the hub for cancer-related research, diagnosis, and treatment at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Emmy Award-winning TV journalist Lisa Petrillo of CBS4 emceed the affair sharing the podium with Cancer Link co-presidents Diane Madden and Ivette Martino-Sarol, along with founder and chair Marlene Berg. Alina Villasante of Peace Love World sent everyone home with an appreciation gift, beautiful pink wrap, designed exclusively for Cancer Link, as well as a lavish gift bag.

On the cultural front, Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre brings us another great show that opened Oct. 10 and will run through Nov. 2. This is a sexy new pop opera called Murder Ballad.
On opening night chair of the board Dr. Lawrence E. Stein and executive producing director Barbara S. Stein welcomed guests to the event that began with a cocktail reception courtesy of Bacardi, Premier Beverage Company & Miami Brewing Company, followed by a delectable dinner buffet provided by Pincho Factory and Coldstone Creamery. In addition, Bravo Musicians roused the guests with upbeat jazz music. Roxy Productions had guests dancing the night away after the show in the company’s Black Box Theatre.
