I love this city, and as a devoted community activist for over three decades, I am driven by a passionate belief that our city’s finest moments are on the horizon.
The fractures within City Hall are obvious, and I know change is necessary and entirely possible. The present state of affairs marred by ego-driven, personal agendas, and controversial fundraising has taken its toll on us. My campaign is a clarion call to residents to reclaim our city’s essence and, to elected officials, a reminder of their duty to serve residents above all else.
What sets me apart are my deep roots in my district, my achievements as a public servant, and my record as a financial professional.
I am a first-time candidate, not an entrenched politician. I bring a fresh perspective, am willing to rethink what doesn’t work, and consider successful solutions from other communities.
More importantly, my funding is untethered from City Hall’s special interests. This financial integrity and independence reflect my dedication to the city’s mission and respect for the residents who call it home.
Corruption’s grip on Miami must end. I commit to a new era of accountability and transparency, free from the influences of corrosive special interests. The creation of a revitalized City Hall that embraces its residents and collaboratively seeks to address community needs, makes transparent and informed decisions, and is a beacon of good governance.
My vision extends to our core challenges: fostering quality development while curbing reckless growth; ending selective loopholes for monied interests; caring for displaced residents; bolstering our resilience against flooding; enhancing streets, traffic, and safety; and ensuring affordable living for all residents. It’s about revitalizing our neighborhoods and crafting a collective, sustainable future.
Miami stands at a crossroads, and I am ready to lead us toward a future that transcends divisions and ushers in an era of collaboration, unity, and progress. Join me as we shape the Miami we deserve – one that embraces change, celebrates diversity, and paves the way for a brighter tomorrow.
Damian Pardo is a candidate for the City of Miami Commission, District 2. As a candidate who has never held elected office, Damian wants to shake things up in city government by making sure local elected officials get back to the basics of serving residents – whether it’s heightened responsiveness to constituents, enhancing our parks and green spaces, fixing potholes and making sidewalks safe for transit, prioritizing environmental resiliency (flooding) so Miami is better prepared for hurricanes, or putting a greater emphasis on keeping communities like ours safe.
