The Gloria M. Silverio Foundation 501(c)3, d/b/a A Safe Haven for Newborns, will host its annual fundraising golf event on Friday, May 16, on the manicured greens of the Red Tiger golf course at the Trump National Doral Golf Resort in Doral, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
This year marks the eighth charity golf tournament, “Tee Off for a Cause,” benefiting the foundation’s mission to end infant abandonment. Funds raised will go toward the many programs offered to the distressed teen or woman who is facing an unexpected pregnancy and feels she has no one to turn to for help.
A Safe Haven for Newborns oversees a 24/7 multi-lingual confidential national helpline which offers the distraught mothers the support and guidance they need in their specific states. All services are offered at no cost to them, and in complete anonymity. Founded 24 years ago, it provides the mother with the resources and support she needs prior to giving birth, allowing her to make an informed decision that is in the best interest of her unborn child and hers.
Some of the services offered include temporary shelter, maternity homes, counseling, health-related issues, transportation to pre-natal care appointments, providing newborn necessities, help with abuse issues, suicide prevention, connecting them with Medicaid and other government programs, or information on adoption.
To date, 424 (414 in Florida, nine in other states, one in Honduras) newborns have been given a chance at a future and over 2,000 teens/women have received help from Safe Haven for Newborns. “But our work is far from over. There is still much to do and we need your help,” said Nick Silverio, founder of A Safe Haven for Newborns. “Please consider participating in our annual golf tournament by being a sponsor or joining us on the green and help us raise the funds needed to provide the services offered.”
By becoming a sponsor, it is an excellent opportunity to showcase your company and network with fellow business leaders in the community. To see the different sponsorship opportunities available, visit the website, A Safe Haven for Newborns. Sponsors will receive exclusive benefits and opportunities.
The tournament is open to both men and women to come, play, and help in the fight to save the most vulnerable among us, the newborn. The tournament entry charge includes green fees, lunch on the course, awards reception, and beverages on and off the course. You can register your foursome by visiting the website at A Safe Haven for Newborns.
