Mayfair House Hotel & Garden has announced that renowned Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli is taking the helm at Mayfair Grill, ushering in a new era for the beloved Coconut Grove restaurant.
Beginning early August, Mayfair Grill is undergoing a transformation to showcase Rapicavoli’s distinctive culinary style that has made him a favorite among food enthusiasts in Miami and beyond.
Known for his creative vision at Eating House and Luca Osteria, Rapicavoli brings his expertise to Mayfair Grill. Inspired by his Argentine roots and Miami’s diverse culinary landscape, he will craft a cuisine that honors Coconut Grove’s rich heritage.
“Our approach is driven by quality ingredients,” he explained.
Central to his technique is the open flame grill, which escalates flavor profiles and creates deliciously charred food.
Rapicavoli’s culinary method follows a deceptively simple yet powerful formula: Ingredients. Fire. Season. Plate. This process emphasizes selecting prime ingredients, harnessing the flame’s power, seasoning with precision, and presenting dishes with thoughtful simplicity.
“This allows the natural flavors to shine,” Rapicavoli noted. “We’re not hiding behind complex techniques or excessive garnishes. Instead, we’re letting premium dishes, and the mastery of fire speak for themselves.”
The new menu, designed for sharing, presents an array of standout dishes. Guests can look forward to delights such as Avocado “Caprese” with Florida burrata, purple basil, and citrus vinegar; Sebastian Inlet Clams with white beans, chorizo dashi, and grilled bread, and Jalapeño Pesto Green Pasta with stracciatella, Florida basil, and cashew. Other notable offerings include Lobster Ravioli with thermidor sauce, brandy, shallot, and citrus; Pasture-Raised Chicken with cilantro salsa verde and grilled lime, and Prawns with preserved lemon and Calabrian chili.
The Mayfair Grill experience blends sophisticated design with Coconut Grove’s natural beauty. The restaurant features earthy tones and elegant accents, centered around an open-plan kitchen and bar. This ambiance extends to the outdoor dining area, where guests can enjoy meals surrounded by lush landscaping and cascading fountains, reflecting the hotel’s garden-centric design.
“We want Mayfair Grill to be the go-to spot in the Grove, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite on a weekday or celebrating a special occasion,” Rapicavoli said. “Our goal is straightforward: create a welcoming space where the food speaks for itself. It’s all about showcasing quality dishes in an environment where our neighbors feel right at home.”
Rhys O’Connell, the general manager at Mayfair House Hotel & Garden, added, “Chef Rapicavoli’s culinary artistry aligns perfectly with our vision. We’re confident Mayfair Grill will become a true gastronomic destination in Coconut Grove under his leadership.”
This development follows Mayfair House Hotel & Garden’s numerous accolades since reopening, including recognition on Travel + Leisure’s 2023 It List, Condé Nast Traveler’s 2023 Hot List and Readers’ Choice Awards, and recently receiving two keys from The Michelin Guide.
Mayfair Grill’s launch under Chef Rapicavoli is rolling out in phases. Starting in August, the restaurant will serve daily dinner, and a happy hour experience. The concept will expand in October to include weekend brunch and lunch, culminating in the full dining experience with all meal periods by month’s end.
Mayfair Grill is located at 3000 Florida Ave., Miami, FL 33133. For more information about the restaurant, or to make a reservation now, visit www.mayfair-grill.com.
