Books & Books, Miami Book Fair, Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County join to present “An Evening with Neil Degrasse Tyson” on Oct. 3, 7 p.m., in the Knight Concert Hall.
In a conversation moderated by Dr. Doug Roberts, vice president of science education and director of the Frost Planetarium at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Dr. Tyson will examine civilization as seen through the prism of science and the scientific mind.
Tickets to “An Evening with Neil Degrasse Tyson” are $47 and include a copy of his book, Starry Messenger: Cosmic Perspectives on Civilization (Holt; $28.99). Tickets may be purchased through the Arsht Center Box Office by calling 305-949-6722, or online at arshtcenter.org.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is an astrophysicist and the author of the No. 1 bestselling Astrophysics for People in a Hurry, among other books. He is the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, where he has served since 1996. He is the two-time host of the beloved TV series Cosmos — rebooting the original 1980 series hosted by Carl Sagan. Dr. Tyson also is the host and cofounder of the Emmy-nominated popular podcastStarTalk and its spinoff StarTalk Sports Edition, which combine science, humor, and pop culture.
He is a recipient of 21 honorary doctorates, the Public Welfare Medal from the National Academy of Sciences, and the Distinguished Public Service Medal from NASA. Asteroid 13123 Tyson is named in his honor. He lives in New York City.
