Alberto M. Carvalho, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) superintendent, was sworn in to serve a four-year term on the National Assessment Governing Board. The ceremony took place Oct. 29 at U.S. Department of Education headquarters in Washington, DC.
The 26-member Governing Board oversees the National Assessment of Educational Progress, which makes objective information on student performance available to policymakers and the public at the national, state and local levels. The board also serves an important role in evaluating the condition and progress of American education since 1969.
