Alper JCC Miami is honored to present the exhibit opening reception for Humans of October 7th with internationally acclaimed photojournalist and TEDx speaker Erez Kaganovitz on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Futernick Family Art Gallery. The exhibition will be on display from October 5 through December 19, 2025. Admission is free, though reservations are requested.
The opening reception will not only launch this powerful exhibit but also commemorate the two-year anniversary of Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, honoring the lives lost, acknowledging the profound impact on the Jewish community and recognizing the resilience and strength that emerged in its wake.
Erez Kaganovitz, founder of the Humans of October 7th project, documents the lives of Israelis impacted by the October 7 attack, capturing their resilience, humanity and stories of survival. Building on the storytelling tradition inspired by Humans of New York, Kaganovitz has dedicated his career to using photography as a bridge for understanding, empathy and dialogue.
His earlier projects—Humans of Tel Aviv, Humans of Israel, and Humans of the Holocaust—have shared more than 2,000 deeply personal stories that showcase Israel’s diversity and complexity while countering antisemitism and fostering cross-cultural connection. Now traveling globally, Kaganovitz brings Humans of October 7th to audiences worldwide, shining light on the people behind the headlines.
“We are humbled to host Erez Kaganovitz and this powerful exhibition at Alper JCC Miami,” said Andrew Wolf, Alper JCC Miami Board Chair. “Through his photography, Erez gives voice to those impacted by October 7, reminding us of the importance of empathy, resilience and shared humanity.”
The opening reception will be held at Alper JCC Miami, Futernick Family Art Gallery (11155 SW 112 Avenue, Miami, Florida, 33176). Reservations can be made at www.alperjcc.org.
