America stands because people chose freedom and accepted responsibility. The early patriots acted with courage, faith, and resolve. They understood that liberty requires sacrifice and stewardship. That same understanding lives in Miami-Dade County today.
No community understands freedom more deeply than Miami-Dade. My own family came from Cuba after losing everything to a murderous communist regime. They lost their home, their property, and their future. They came to America seeking opportunity, faith, and the dignity of work. They came ready to rebuild. That experience mirrors the same spirit that built this nation.
America 250 offers a chance to lead with truth and pride. This anniversary calls for more than ceremonies. It calls for education, engagement, and a renewed commitment to the values that define the United States.
As a member of the Miami-Dade America 250 Advisory Committee, my role is to advance a commemoration rooted in history and civic responsibility. The focus is clear: teach the next generation what citizenship means and why freedom matters. Liberty endures when people understand it, protect it, and pass it forward.
America’s story rests on enduring principles. We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. Opportunity rewards effort. Faith strengthens communities. Families anchor society. Responsibility accompanies freedom. These ideals guide Americans who work, serve, and raise their children with pride in this country.
Miami-Dade reflects that story every day. Veterans who defended this nation. First responders who protect their neighbors. Educators who shape young minds. Immigrant families who embraced America and strengthened it through hard work and devotion. Their contributions prove the promise of the American experiment.
America 250 should honor the founders and elevate the everyday patriots who carry their legacy forward. This commemoration belongs to communities that understand sacrifice and cherish liberty. Miami-Dade stands at the center of that story.
This anniversary represents an inheritance. Each generation receives the gift of freedom and the responsibility to protect it. Leadership means passing that inheritance forward stronger, clearer, and more secure.
