American Airlines will expand its European network from Miami International Airport in the summer of 2025 with its first-ever service to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and more flights to London Heathrow (LHR).
“I am proud to celebrate our largest flying partner, American Airlines, and their announcement to strengthen its transatlantic network at MIA,” said Daniella Levine Cava, Miami-Dade County Mayor. “This expansion reflects Miami-Dade County’s growth as a key link between North America, Europe, and beyond. We appreciate American Airlines for their ongoing commitment to the Miami market and look forward to welcoming even more of their travelers to our community.”
American will operate two daily flights between MIA and LHR next summer. Together with American’s joint business partners, service to LHR complements service to other partner hubs, allowing customers to create seamless itineraries to more than 175 destinations in Europe.
“As Miami’s Hometown Airline, we are proud to strengthen our commitment to providing customers with more options out of MIA. Our rapidly expanding network is a testament to our commitment to Greater Miami,” said American Airlines vice president of MIA Operations Juan Carlos Liscano. “We are flying our largest schedule on record, with over 400 flights a day to more than 155 destinations around the world, providing our customers with an unparalleled network.”
Last month, American also announced its inaugural service from MIA to Rome. That service will now start on June 5, a month earlier than previously planned, giving customers more time to visit Italy next summer.
New service to Rome and extended service to London complement the airline’s robust network from MIA to more than 155 destinations in 45 countries and territories. Next summer, American will offer service to five European destinations from MIA, including year-round service to Barcelona, Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), London, and Madrid. American is the only U.S. carrier to serve CDG and FCO from MIA.
