Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) is pleased to announce that CAHSD Director Lucia Davis-Raiford will be honored at the upcoming American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) Annual Award Ceremony. The South Florida Chapter of ASPA, an internationally renowned Society committed to excellence in public service, has recognized CAHSD as Non-Profit of the Year.
CAHSD is the largest provider of comprehensive social and human services in Miami-Dade County. The department was formed in 2011 as a result of the merger between the Community Action Agency and the Department of Human Services. Through support services, advocacy and education, department programs empower economically disadvantaged families to become self-sufficient.
Ms. Raiford has overseen the department since the merger took place. Under her leadership, the programs and services provided by CAHSD have served over 100,000 Miami-Dade County residents, from children to the elderly, helping families achieve goals that better their lives and their communities.
The ASPA Annual Awards Reception will be held at Jungle Island, 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami, Florida, 33132 on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Other awardees include Alberto Carvalho, Superintendent, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, William D.
