Amigos For Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect, has announced a leadership transition within its board of directors.

After serving as chair with passion and vision, Maggie Fresen-Zulueta will transition to the role of immediate past chair, continuing her service and support for the organization.

“It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve as board chair of Amigos For Kids Fresen-Zulueta,” said. “I am incredibly proud of the impact we have made together, and I look forward to continuing to support this incredible organization as immediate past chair. I have no doubt that under Yosbel’s leadership, the future of Amigos is bright.”

Stepping into the role of board chair is Yosbel A. Ibarra, Esq., co-managing shareholder at Greenberg Traurig PA. Ibarra, who previously served as vice chair, brings extensive experience in law, leadership, and community service. He has long been an integral force in advancing the organization’s mission to support vulnerable children and families.

“I am honored to continue the important work of Amigos For Kids as chair of the organization while supporting its mission of preventing child abuse and uplifting at-risk children,” Ibarra said. “Through the innovative programs developed by Amigos, we have the opportunity to strengthen families and create a brighter future for the children of our community.”

Lissette M. Calderon, CEO at Neology Life Development Group, will assume the role of vice chair of the Amigos For Kids Board. A committed board member since 2004, Calderon has consistently championed the organization’s mission and will continue to lead its efforts with energy and heart.

“I’m honored to be named the incoming vice chair of the Amigos For Kids Executive Committee and to further champion an organization that has been transforming the lives of children and families across South Florida,” Calderon said. “Building communities while creating opportunities for the next generation to thrive has always been a core value of Neology Group.

“As a proud board member of Amigos For Kids since 2004, we remain committed to its mission of preventing child abuse and strengthening families through education, awareness, and community engagement,” Calderon added.

Continuing in their leadership roles are Victoria Madani, who will serve another term as board secretary, and Alexander Sueiro, who will remain as board treasurer, ensuring strong governance and financial oversight as Amigos For Kids enters its next phase of growth.

“Amigos For Kids extends its deepest gratitude to Maggie Fresen-Zulueta for her years of dedicated service and leadership,” said Karina Pavone, president and CEO of Amigos For Kids. “We are equally thrilled to welcome Yosbel as our new chair and Lissette as our vice chair, and to continue working alongside such an exceptional and committed board of directors. As we move forward, our focus remains steadfast: to protect children, support families, and build a stronger, safer community for all.”

Co-founder and chair emeritus Jorge A. Plasencia stated, “Embarking on this new chapter in our 34-year history fills me with deep pride and gratitude. Maggie’s leadership has left an indelible mark, paving the way for Yosbel and Lissette to continue our legacy of service and impact. Amigos For Kids was built on the unwavering belief that every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment.”

He continued, “Yosbel and Lissette are true champions of that mission, and with their leadership, and the support of the board and staff, we are better equipped than ever to continue fulfilling that promise for years to come.”
