The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP has announced that commercial litigation attorney and Miami partner Anthony E. Torrente has been named the Miami-Dade County Man of the Year by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
“We are extremely proud of Anthony’s efforts to educate the community about blood cancers affecting both children and adults and assist LLS as part of their commitment to cure cancer,” said Barbara Fernandez, Hinshaw’s Miami partner-in-charge.
The LLS Man & Woman of the Year is a philanthropic competition to support blood cancer research among a group of motivated and dedicated individuals in communities across the United States. Candidates form powerful fundraising teams and compete in honor of two local children who are blood cancer survivors. The man and woman who have raised the most funds during the 10-week campaign are awarded the prestigious title of Man or Woman of the Year in their community.
At an event on June 4, Torrente and his Hinshaw team were honored for raising approximately $30,000. In South Florida, a total of $350,000 was raised among all the men and women who competed for the prestigious award.
Torrente has experience in commercial litigation involving breach of contract claims, real estate disputes, boundary/land use matters, condominium association and homeowners’ association (HOA) disputes, lien filings and foreclosures, broker commission disputes, and mortgage/association legal issues. He also has handled litigation involving personal injury, premises liability/slip-and-fall cases, wrongful death, auto accidents, dram shop violations, property damage/first party claims, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) cases, environmental matters, judgment collections work, construction defect cases, and employment cases. Anthony has assisted clients in commercial/residential transactions, contract negotiations, forbearance agreements, loan modification work, and drafting security instruments.
In terms of dispute resolution, Torrente is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil Circuit/County Mediator. He has mediated cases in the areas of breach of contract/commercial cases, debt collection, foreclosures, ADA, property damage/first party claims, personal injury, auto accidents, PIP claims, and premises liability.
Torrente holds a JD from Barry University School of Law and a BA, cum laude, from Florida State University.
