AT&T launches Believe Miami to help young people achieve their dreams

AT&T believes everyone in the community should have access to the educational and employment opportunities that will define Miami’s future. That is why the company has launched Believe Miami, a local initiative focused on removing barriers that keep local youth and young adults from achieving their dreams.

AT&T is committing a total of $300,000 from the AT&T Foundation to Dibia DREAM, His House Children’s Home, Miami Marlins Foundation, Pridelines, Breakthrough Miami, Miami Rescue Mission, and Florida International University (FIU) to help provide youth and young adults with resources they need to succeed in school and life.

The vision for Believe Miami is the promise of the Magic City for all.

“Many community organizations are working diligently and effectively to close the skills gap in Miami, but more needs to be done, and AT&T has the people and the resources to have an impact,” said Joe York, AT&T Florida president. “The more than 5,100 women and men who work for AT&T and call the Miami area home have always shown a strong commitment to community and a desire to cultivate a better and brighter future, and we are committed to removing barriers to success for area youth.”

To help launch Believe Miami, about 100 AT&T volunteers helped more than 100 young students design, build and race cars at FIU on October 26 as part of the Dibia DREAM STEM Saturdays program.

“Dibia DREAM is very excited to join with AT&T to launch Believe Miami,” said Brandon Okpalobi, Dibia DREAM founder. “Our STEM Saturdays program is about creating incubators of excellence where youth can safely engage, collaborate and have fun together. We thank AT&T for their generous contribution, which will allow our high school participants access to hands-on science and technology activities.”
