Book Fair reveals poster created by NWSA studentMiami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed Miami Book Fair (MBF) recently revealed this year’s official poster created by New World School of the Arts (NWSA) visual arts student Nicole Samper.

This year’s book fair will take place Nov. 17-24 at MDC Wolfson Campus in the heart of Downtown Miami, where it originally was launched 40 years ago.

“It’s a joy to see our students succeed, and we take great pride in being part of their educational journey by collaborating with them and our faculty colleagues throughout MDC,” said Lissette Mendez, MBF’s executive director. “New World School of the Arts is one of the premier arts conservatory programs in the country. We are fortunate to have their students as part of our MDC family and working with us at the Book Fair to communicate the magic that is the Fair.”

Samper is a Miami-artist and NWSA student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

Her experience includes mastery of typography, branding, digital illustration and user experience design. Embracing both traditional design principles and contemporary techniques, her future goal is to refine and elevate new and existing brand identities and companies with digital and printed works. She also aspired to collaborate with other artists in the fashion and makeup magazine industry and makeup packaging, branding world.

“I am thrilled that Nicole’s art will become part of the permanent collection of MBF posters and will be enjoyed by all the patrons of the Miami Book Fair,” said NWSA provost Jeffrey Hodgson. “For several years, New World School of the Arts has had the honor of collaborating with Miami Book Fair to give our college visual arts students the opportunity to design the official poster.

“Nicole’s design skillfully demonstrates the scale of the literary world we inhabit, capturing the essence of Miami with a vibrant color palette. The stacked books highlight the heart of Downtown Miami and the diversity of our community, while using a font reminiscent of some of the more iconic art deco architecture in our city.”
