Branches, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing life-changing opportunities to families and their children, celebrated its eighth annual Back to School Bash at the University of Miami’s Newman Alumni Center on Aug. 7.
Branches’ Bash is a happy hour for a cause, where 150-plus guests enjoyed delicious bites and drinks from local restaurants, and then help stuff backpacks full of school supplies for Branches’ 500 students to make sure they go back to school fully equipped and ready to succeed.
“Nearly 60 percent of families in our community are struggling to make ends meet.
Branches serves to create opportunities for these children and their families, and with generous support from our community, we know that our students will be able to succeed in school and ultimately attain a higher quality of life”, said Brent McLaughlin, president and CEO of Branches.
Back to School Bash guests enjoyed DJ Mayner, as well as wine, beer and delicious appetizers and desserts provided by the featured restaurants which include: Big Yard, Divieto, Dos Croquetas, La Tropical Cerveceria, Half Moon Empanadas, Seasons 52 and Sushi Maki, as well as two of our restaurant partners who are Branches’ Micro-Business program participants, Get Your Roll On and Sir vin Delights.
The eighth annual Back to School Bash was made possible thanks to sponsors. Top Sponsors included:
“Gold Star” Sponsors: Aetna, Banesco, Bean Automotive Group, Boeing, Bradesco, and The Templeton Family Foundation;
“Best Friend” Sponsors: Amazon, Amerant, Aramarkl, BB Americas, First Bank, Juneau Construction Company, Missy and Jim Morgan, Scott Huizenga, and South Miami Hospital.
