Swire Properties Inc., one of South Florida’s leading International developers of urban real estate, along with retail co-developers Whitman Family Development and Simon Property Group, has announced the addition of a 38,000-square-foot Italian indoor food hall, which will anchor the open-air shopping center at Brickell City Centre, the 5.4 million-square-foot mixed-use development nearing completion in the heart of Brickell (near Brickell Avenue and 7th Street).

The three-level Italian dining space and market will feature a wide variety of eateries, each celebrating a different aspect of Italy’s famously diverse cuisine.

A statement from the team reads: “We want to bring the tradition and energy of the old world Italian streets and town centers, or piazze, to Miami’s urban core, creating a vibrant central destination for the Brickell community and beyond. A food market is the heart and soul of most major Italian cities; now the same will be true here in Miami.”

In addition to dining, the new food hall will offer market fare such as fresh produce, home-meal replacements, imported artisanal cheeses and meats, as well as everyday culinary essentials and gifts. Guests also will enjoy live cooking demonstrations, classes by Italian chefs, instruction on wine and food pairing and other educational programming.

The food hall will be located at the north block of the 500,000-square-foot shopping center and is set to be a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.

“Despite Miami’s immense cultural growth and its rich culinary scene, we have yet to see a food concept quite as extensive as the food hall being introduced at Brickell City Centre,” said Debora Overholt, vice president at Swire Properties. “Miami is a thriving international city and is ready for this magnitude of culinary experience. There is nothing of this scale anywhere in the city.”

The food hall joins the dining and entertainment space at Brickell City Centre, which includes a luxury dine-in cinema, Mexico-based Cinemex, the Pubbelly Boys’ second Pubbelly Sushi and local artisanal coffee shop Pasión del Cielo. Also announced are renowned traditional Uruguayan restaurant Quinto La Huella and signature rooftop bar Sugar, both of which will be located at Brickell City Centre’s flagship hotel, EAST, Miami.
