Now through May 9 the Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) is accepting applications for educational scholarships through its Family and Community Services Division (FCSD) and Office of Neighborhood Safety.
“Every student deserves the chance to succeed, no matter their zip code or background,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “These scholarships help eliminate barriers to higher education and demonstrate our continued commitment to making opportunity affordable and accessible for all. Through our No Wrong Door approach, we are ensuring that youth across the county can connect to resources that open doors and transform lives.”
Community Advisory Committees (CAC) Scholarships
Through the Family and Community Services Division, CAHSD will award 16 scholarships of $2,000 each. For nearly four decades, FCSD has helped low-income students pursue higher education, empowering the next generation of changemakers.
To qualify, applicants must:
• Be between 16 and 25 years old
• Be enrolled in or planning to attend a college or vocational institution in Fall 2025
• Have a minimum 2.0 GPA
• Have a household income at or below 200 percent of the Community Services Block Grant Poverty Income Guidelines
• Reside in one of the 16 CAC areas: Allapattah, Brownsville, Coconut Grove, Culmer, Edison/Little River, Florida City, Goulds, Hialeah, Liberty City, Liberty City, Little Havana, Naranja, Opa-Locka, Perrine, South Beach, South Miami or Wynwood.
Office of Neighborhood Safety Scholarships
The Office of Neighborhood Safety is offering 50 scholarships of $1,500 each to college-bound/college enrolled students across Miami-Dade County, supporting access to higher education as a pathway to safer and more prosperous communities.
To be eligible, applicants must:
• Be between 16 and 25 years old
• Be enrolled in or planning to attend a college or vocational institution in Fall 2025
• Have a minimum 2.0 GPA
• Have a household income at or below 200 percent of the Community Services Block Grant Poverty Income Guidelines
• Reside in Miami-Dade County
• Submit financial documentation and a personal essay
The scholarship program is a component of Miami-Dade County’s broader effort to ensure that education remains affordable, accessible, and within reach for every resident, no matter their background or neighborhood.
