Chapman Partnership, a leader in empowering the lives of Miami-Dade County’s unhoused population, is pleased to announce the addition of four new members to the organization’s board of directors.
“With decades of expertise across many professional industries and diverse personal backgrounds, these esteemed individuals expand our board’s skills and knowledge and enhance it’s commitment to furthering the needs of our community,” said Scott Hansel, President and Chief Executive Officer, Chapman Partnership.

Mr. Savo Bakrac is the Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Construction & Risk Quant Research at Citadel. Since joining Citadel in 2006, Savo has served as a Senior Risk Manager and COO of Global Portfolio Construction and Risk. He relocated to Miami in 2023 to support and lead the move of Citadel and Citadel Securities’ headquarters to South Florida. Mr. Bakrac holds a master’s degree in mathematics from New York University. He is a native of Montenegro.

Emily Maxson, M.D., Partner at Despierta VC, a Miami-based company creation platform and venture capital firm that focuses on building and investing in mission-oriented healthcare and AI companies. Prior to this role Dr. Maxson served as the Chief Medical Officer at Adelade Inc., a nationally recognized leader in value-based primary care. She began her career in public health, supporting the adoption of technology for prevention and population health, before training as a primary care internal medicine physician at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Kenneth Schoeni is the EVP and Chief Financial Officer of Banesco USA, a Miami-based bank with 8 locations across South Florida and Puerto Rico. Since joining Banesco in 2012, he has served in various roles such as Corporate Development Officer, BSA Analytics Officer and Chief Risk Officer, contributing to the bank’s growth to over $5 billion in assets, a tenfold increase during his tenure. He currently oversees finance, accounting, treasury, and strategy, leading initiatives like securing a $250 million investment through the U.S. Treasury Department’s Emergency Capital Investment Program and the acquisition of a nationwide SBA lending business. He serves on the board of the South Florida Banking Institute. His previous experience includes investment banking at Lazard Middle Market and Sandler & O’Neill Partners. Mr. Schoeni holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University. Additionally, he is a former professional soccer player, retired in 2010.

Lauren E. Smith is Managing Partner and Co-Head, Board Practice, Diversified Search Group/DSG Global, a top ten executive search firm. Ms. Smith has more than two decades of executive and board search experience. Prior to executive search, she spent twelve years in marketing and strategy roles at Westinghouse Electric Corporation and Motorola Inc. Ms. Smith serves on several boards, including the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and National Association Corporate Directors Florida Chapter and is actively involved in organizations such as Women Corporate Directors and the International Women’s Forum.
Chapman Partnership was founded in 1995 and operates the largest emergency Homeless Assistance Centers with 800 beds with locations in Miami and Homestead. For thirty years the nonprofit has provided a comprehensive and innovative “village” of support for unhoused men, women, and children. The support includes housing, meals, health and psychiatric care, wellness programs, employment training and placement, and assistance with securing permanent homes. Aided by generous donors and sponsors, we uplift the unhoused, providing the tools and hope necessary to build a positive, independent future.
