Chef and restaurateur Michael Schulson, founder of the Schulson Collective, returns to South Florida with the debut of Double Knot Miami, an evolution of his celebrated Philadelphia izakaya. The original Double Knot opened in 2016 and quickly became one of Philadelphia’s most acclaimed Japanese dining destinations. Schulson first made his mark in South Florida with the award-winning Monkitail at The Diplomat Beach Resort in 2017. Now, with Double Knot Miami, he brings a fresh take on izakaya dining—blending bold Japanese flavors, refined technique, and Miami’s electric spirit.
The menu at Double Knot Miami offers a dynamic take on traditional izakaya fare, with an array of sushi, robatayaki skewers, and inventive entrées crafted from seasonal, Japanese-inspired ingredients. Signature dishes include crispy Japanese fried chicken, black cod fried rice, A5 wagyu beef, and kobe beef skewers. Small plates such as wagyu soup dumplings, big eye tuna rolls, and toro nigiri with soy and wasabi elevate the shared dining experience.
“I’ve been waiting for the right time and place to bring Double Knot to Miami—and I’ve finally found it,” says Schulson. “We took the original inspiration—Japanese seaside meets Philadelphia grit—and reimagined it for this city. The design blends nautical elements with Wynwood’s warehouse aesthetic and layers of tropical deco. The menu reflects that same energy: bold, vibrant, and rooted in our passion for Japanese cuisine.”
Double Knot Miami spans multiple thoughtfully designed spaces by Rohe Creative, each offering a distinct experience.Guests can enjoy the full menu in the bar and lounge, anchored by a striking 13-seat marble bar where modern classic cocktails are crafted with a Japanese twist. Signature drinks include The Double Knot, made with bourbon, rye, vermouth, smoked cinnamon, and clove; The Splice Knot, featuring shishito vodka, ginger-honey, and lime; and The Alpine Knot, a refreshing blend of vodka, yuzu, honey, and shiso. Just steps away, the lounge invites guests to settle into plush seating with low-slung tables—perfect for sipping cold brews, crisp wines, or premium sake alongside sushi selections.
In the main dining room, a mosaic-lit vaulted ceiling and oversized brass sconces cast a warm glow throughout. Guests are surrounded by vintage tones and bold floral prints, creating an immersive atmosphere. Concrete pillars anchor the space, enhanced by sleek metals and warm woods, while the lighting merges the glamour of Miami Deco with the edgy flair of Wynwood’s industrial style. An intimate eight-seat sushi bar offers guests a front-row seat to the artistry of Japanese cuisine. Here, chefs prepare an array of seasonal nigiri, sashimi, and signature rolls—all showcasing precision, balance, and flavor.
Double Knot Miami marks the continued collaboration between real estate developer Goldman Properties and Schulson Collective, following their successful partnerships on celebrated Philadelphia venues including Sampan, Double Knot, Graffiti Bar, Prunella, Pearl & Mary, and Alpen Rose.
Double Knot Miami is located at the Wynwood Walls, the world’s largest outdoor street art museum, at 2550 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127 (in the former Wynwood Kitchen & Bar space) and will serve dinner on Sunday and Monday from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Tuesday through Thursday from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am.
