City’s new Virrick Park Pool coming in 2024
Groundbreaking ceremony begins construction of the new facility.

The City of Miami is planning to open its next aquatic facility at Elizabeth Virrick Park, 3255 Plaza St., in 2024.

The Coconut Grove community has been eagerly awaiting a new family-friendly pool to be built in the neighborhood. Together, the Parks Department and the Office of Capital Improvements worked with the community to design a world-class pool for all ages and abilities.

The Virrick Park Pool will have features like no other It includes a zero-depth entry that’s fully ADA accessible, a built-in play structure and water slide to cool down during those hot summer days, a shallow pool for learn-to-swim classes, water aerobics, and inexperienced swimmers. It also will feature a six-lane lap pool for open swimming, swim teams, swim meets, and teaching lifeguard classes.

The aquatic facility construction includes a new bathhouse, a public art installation, and right-of-way improvements to Hibiscus Street, Day Avenue, and Percival Avenue. The design fulfills a promise to build a world-class facility the City of Miami made to its residents. It will be a state-of-the-art facility that is safe, accessible, and facilitates a healthy and happy quality of life.
