Yoly Munoz Couture of Coconut Grove made a statement at the Miss Universe Pageant with a beautiful gown worn by American National Image Queen Mireya Kilmon of South Florida.
Dressed in this couture designed gown, Kilmon was a VIP Red Carpet guest at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas on Aug. 23 for the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant. Kilmon was seen rubbing elbows with the pageant judges Jane Seymour, Criss Angel, Chazz Palminteri and William Baldwin.
That same week Kilmon also attended the National Arthritis Foundation meeting at the Paris Hotel where she met the national president and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation. Kilmon is co-chair for the second annual “Let’s Move Together” walk in Miami-Dade County and notes that one out of three people in Florida have some kind of arthritis and there are 16,000 children diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in Florida compared to the present 360,000 in the USA.
As a member of the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club, she already has recruited members from that club and encourages other clubs and businesses to sign up to support the Walk.
The Bed Race in Coconut Grove on Sept. 5, attracted countless thousands for a day of crazy fun with proceeds to benefit the Alonzo Mourning Charities and the University of Miami Sleep Center. Event organizer Daisy Lewis can attest that comedy was the order of the day, as always, with the slowest beds providing some of the best laughs.
The Sand Bar at the race finish was packed as were most area bars and eateries for this day of levity and goodwill that actually was part of a full weekend of frivolity that included a Pajama Crawl.
On site to start the race was grand marshal Indy500 racer Tony Kanaan who judged with Alonzo Mourning, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Miami-Dade Commissioner Carlos Gimenez, Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, State Rep. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, Homestead Miami Speedway president Matt Becherer, local Miamian and actor Steven Bauer, as well as emcee for the day, comedian Johnny Trabs.
Voices For Children Foundation will conduct an art viewing and silent auction on Sept. 30, 6-9 p.m., at 300 Alton Rd. in Miami Beach. The affair will feature artwork from children in foster care. Guests will enoy cocktails, fabulous Brazilian hors d’oeuvres and dialogue with local artists.
