Commissioner Juan Carlos “JC” Bermudez is sponsoring the second annual “From Waste to Race 5K” on Saturday, March 28 at 7:30 a.m. at the site of a former Miami-Dade County Landfill, 6997 NW 97th Ave, Miami, FL 33178.
The second annual “From Waste to Race 5K” gives runners a unique opportunity to be part of history and create a legacy. In 2025 at the inaugural race, over 400 runners participated and were part of the legacy! The participants will run a course on a former landfill site with unique terrain full of hills and elevated landscape rarely found in Florida, which will be transformed into part of a greater regional county park. The event supports the development and transformation of a once-forgotten greenspace into Miami-Dade County’s premier destination for runners in the area.
Runners can register for the race here. Registration ends March 28 at 7:30 a.m.
