Miami-Dade County Commissioner Xavier L. Suarez (District 7) has posted the following comments on social media (Twitter) in connection with Citizens Independent Transportation Trust.
Transportation Financing Solutions: On July 13, 2017, CITT passed a resolution (7-5) to unwind unification, to use surtax money as intended— to EXPAND county’s mass transit system. This was something I supported and has since been held up by the county attorney’s office eight months and counting!
*** Note: A resolution was presented asking for the restoration, to the People’s Transportation Plan (CITT), of $50 million, or less than half of the new property tax revenues received, to fund the SMART public transportation plan in Miami-Dade County. Meanwhile, the county’s bureaucracy bulges with 4,800 properties; a fleet of 7,000 vehicles; 3,000 county employees who make over $100,000 a year; and 4,300 distinct salary levels to categorize more than 27,000 employees***.
Transportation Financing Solutions: The CITT resolution has the force of law and should be brought before the BCC for a vote.
