Commissioners Barbara J. Jordan and Esteban Bovo, Jr. will be presenting a commendation to bus operator Elijah Saleem during a Board of County Commissioners special presentation on Tuesday, March 5.
Saleem was on duty driving northbound on Northwest 155th Street and 27th Avenue on February 18 when he saw a car plunge into a canal. He then stopped and secured the bus and got into the water to rescue the man, his girlfriend, and their 1-year-old son. Saleem will be in attendance at the BCC presentation to receive the commendation.
