On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, School Board Chair and District 6 Representative, Mari Tere Rojas, hosted a town hall meeting at Southwest Miami Senior High School to recognize students who have demonstrated academic excellence, remarkable growth, and perfect attendance. Students from the Southwest Miami feeder pattern schools showcased their exceptional talents in the visual and performing arts, infusing the evening with creativity and energy. Their performances served as a vibrant reminder of the diverse pathways to success available within our schools.
Board Chair Rojas, alongside district and regional staff, engaged with a diverse audience of parents, students, teachers, administrators, staff, and key stakeholders. The discussions touched on a wide range of important topics, including academic and parental resources, the role of artificial intelligence, and critical issues surrounding safety, security, and mental health support services. These conversations underscored the district’s unwavering commitment to providing a well-rounded and secure educational experience, one that prepares students for success both now and in the future.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and their exceptional accomplishments. This town hall not only celebrates their outstanding achievements but also honors the dedication of our teachers, administrators, and all the stakeholders who contribute to their success. It’s a moment to recognize everyone’s hard work and to connect the community with valuable resources that will help sustain and support continued growth and achievement,” said Board Chair Rojas.
During the meeting, Board Chair Rojas expressed her heartfelt gratitude to parents, teachers, administrators, staff, district and regional personnel, and the police department for their unwavering support of students. She also conveyed her deep appreciation to Mr. Osmani Gonzalez of the Miami-Dade County Council PTA/PTSA for his invaluable presence and contributions, which played a key role in the success of this significant event.
