Ecom Authority brings holiday season cheer to local families

Ecom Authority, a premier Miami-based full-service e-commerce management company, has donated $100,000 worth of new toys, electronics, and other merchandise to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami (BBBSM).

This innovative Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative transforms online product returns into impactful community giving, preventing waste in landfills, while spreading extra holiday cheer and uplifting local families through one of Miami’s most trusted youth-serving organizations.

This effort exhibits Ecom Authority’s stewardship of industry best practices by repurposing returns that would otherwise contribute to the alarming amount of returned merchandise ending up in U.S. landfills. According to Statista, 4.34 million tons of returned merchandise were discarded in domestic landfills in 2021 alone.

The donations include sought-after items that will directly impact BBBSM’s youth and families: new Nintendo gaming consoles, GoPro cameras, educational toys, baby items, and essential personal care products.

Ecom Authority is demonstrating its commitment to community support by dedicating significant staff time and resources to organize and prepare hundreds of unused returned items for donation. This collaborative effort involves Ecom Authority employees working alongside BBBSM volunteers to carefully sort the items at Ecom Authority’s headquarters.

The gifts were delivered to BBBSM’s headquarters for distribution to families during their Dec. 14 holiday event. This partnership showcases Ecom Authority’s dual commitment to innovation and community impact during the holiday season.

“Our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami represents what’s possible when online retail businesses think differently about returns and community impact,” said Dan Cohen, CEO of Ecom Authority. “Instead of these brand-new items ending up in landfills, they are now bringing meaningful support to Miami families while creating a more sustainable approach to e-commerce. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to innovate in the e-commerce space while making a difference to our environment and our community.”

“Dan Cohen and Ecom Authority’s innovative approach to giving has created a ripple effect for our families,” said Gale Nelson, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami.

“These toys and much-needed everyday essentials will bring joy and assistance to the youth and families we serve, allowing us to continue our mission of mentorship and positive life experiences. Together, we are making a real difference in our community, especially as we head into the holiday season.”

Ecom Authority’s donation is part of a larger commitment to responsible business practices.

The company actively seeks to take a lead to better the standards in e-commerce and minimize its environmental impact by finding new uses for items that would otherwise go to waste. This donation not only provides valuable resources to those in need but also reinforces the importance of community support in the face of challenges.
