Educational Federal Credit Union (EdFed) officially opened its newest branch on the North Campus of Miami Dade College (MDC) on August 22. This initiative marks a historic milestone for both EdFed and MDC.
The new branch represents EdFed’s ninth location and the first-ever collegiate branch designed to support the campus community. It also underscores EdFed’s mission to promote financial empowerment by providing students, faculty, and staff with personalized financial services, scholarship opportunities, and other invaluable resources.
“As the very first campus of Miami Dade College, we are especially honored to host the inaugural (collegiate) EdFed branch right here at North Campus,” said Fermin Vazquez, President of MDC’s North Campus. “It’s a milestone that reflects both our shared history and our united vision for the future.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by a credit-union-sponsored luncheon to help celebrate the occasion with the attendees.
The opening festivities continued into the following week with two additional events coinciding with MDC’s Week of Welcome, the college’s annual kickoff welcoming students back to campus after summer break. On Tuesday, August 26, EdFed’s board of directors joined campus leadership for a second ribbon-cutting ceremony. The following day, EdFed partnered with HITS 97.3 radio host Jade Alexander for an engaging campus event, which included live music, giveaways, and games, to get students excited for the fall term.
The grand opening of the North Campus branch and subsequent events highlighted EdFed’s longstanding partnership with MDC and its commitment to serving the college community with the resources they need to pursue academic and financial success.
“This branch demonstrates a very warm and inviting environment,” said Michael DiBenedetto, CEO of EdFed. “I expect that our wonderful staff, along with this vibrant branch space, will make our members comfortable and even excited about their financial opportunities.”
The North Campus Branch is located in Building 3, Room 3101.
