The Elena A. Miranda Foundation recently conducted a book drive to benefit Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and collected approximately 700 books for young patients.

Supporters were able to contribute by purchasing from the foundation’s Amazon wish list or by dropping off donations. The foundation founder, Carlos Fausto Miranda, said that for young patients and their siblings facing the darkest and most painful times in their lives, books offer an opportunity to escape their present circumstances and recapture a moment of normal youth.

The foundation was started in 2023 by Miranda, founder and principal of Fausto Commercial, in honor of his late sister. Its mission is to raise funds to support underprivileged children facing life-threatening health issues whose families lack the financial means for medical intervention and where public funding is not available. All administrative costs are fully covered by dedicated donors, ensuring that 100 percent of every contribution goes directly to supported causes.

“We are very grateful for the generosity of such groups as Florida Lemark Corporation, Christopher Columbus High School and Accounting to Scale for the book drive,” Miranda said. “Books can inspire and captivate, and it is our hope that these young ones will be able to gain a measure of joy and encouragement as they deal with their recovery.”
