ExCEL: MDC launches new hub for educator excellence, innovation
Miami Dade College (MDC) president Madeline Pumariega speaks at launch of ExCEL: Excellence Center for Educator Learning.

Miami Dade College (MDC) recently launched its new ExCEL: Excellence Center for Educator Learning, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering educators to achieve their highest potential. The event featured a keynote address by Emmy Award-winning motivational speaker, author, musician and workforce expert Clint Pulvert.

This first-of-its-kind comprehensive professional learning center at MDC will empower educators at every stage of their career by offering a diverse range of opportunities, from certifications for new teachers and career changers to academic endorsements and recertification courses designed to enhance a teacher’s credential. All courses are aligned with state requirements to streamline certification pathways.

“At MDC, we remain committed to serving as the workforce engine of the community, especially in in-demand industries experiencing critical shortages such as education,” said MDC president Madeline Pumariega. “Together with our school partners, we are proud to offer innovative programs and resources to grow the teacher pipeline and support student learning.”

MDC’s School of Education (SOE) is a beacon of excellence in teacher preparation and professional learning, committed to fostering innovation and ensuring access to quality education. With personalized pathways, SOE equips educators with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary for success in today’s classrooms.

Guided by high-quality faculty and education experts, SOE prioritizes academic rigor and immersive experiential learning opportunities, while forging strategic partnerships to drive positive change in Miami-Dade County and beyond. By nurturing transformative leaders and fostering a culture of collaboration and lifelong learning, the SOE empowers educators to inspire and shape the future of education.
