Paco Vélez, president and CEO of Feeding South Florida, has announced that Michelle Esposito has been appointed chair of the organization’s board of directors. Esposito is the vice president of IT for JM&A Group, a subsidiary of JM Family Enterprises, a company rooted in automotive and united by a strong culture and core values.

Serving the South Florida community for more than 40 years, Feeding South Florida’s board of directors is comprised of dedicated and passionate leaders committed to advancing the organization’s mission to end hunger across the region. Presently, 1.7 million individuals in South Florida face food insecurity.

“Esposito’s commitment to Feeding South Florida and the communities we serve is both inspiring and impactful,” Vélez said. “Her strategic mindset, technology leadership, and heart for service position her to guide our board as we grow our impact.”

Vélez also expressed his sincere gratitude to outgoing board chair Chris Mellgren for his exceptional leadership and service for the past three years.

“Chris’ steady guidance, commitment to our mission, and dedication to the communities we serve have helped strengthen Feeding South Florida during a pivotal time. We are deeply thankful for his lasting impact and continued support of our work to end hunger across the region,” Vélez continued.

Esposito brings more than 20 years of experience in technology and executive leadership. In her role at JM Family, she leads the development and execution of JM&A Group’s technology strategy to support future growth and enable faster, more efficient service delivery. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a bachelor’s degree in business and decision information science from the University of Florida. She is based in Boca Raton where she lives with her husband.

“It is an honor to step into the role of board chair for Feeding South Florida,” Esposito said.

“Together, we will continue to strengthen innovative programs, leverage technology, and build sustainable solutions that address hunger at its root and improve the lives of families across South Florida.”

As board chair, Esposito will play a key role in supporting Feeding South Florida’s innovative programs, including its culinary and warehouse training initiatives, Food Is Medicine efforts such as the Mobile FARMacy and hospital pantries, home delivery services, workforce development, Client Choice Pantry, Summer BreakSpots, and the continued advancement of cutting-edge technology designed to measure impact in real time.
