Despite the challenges FIU Law graduates have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, FIU once again has ranked as the top-performing Florida law school.
The college’s graduates earned an 89.3 percent passing rate on the October 2020 bar exam, the highest of any Florida law school, and 18 percentage points above the state average. The July 2020 bar exam was postponed to August and then to October because of COVID-19. It was administered online.
“Our graduates confronted unprecedented hurdles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but they are very resilient and hard-working,” said FIU Law dean Antony Page. “They earned this achievement because they remained focused and dedicated to becoming great new lawyers.”
FIU Law’s Academic Excellence Program, led by assistant dean Raul Ruiz and associate dean Louis Schulze, helps ensure that students have everything they need to maximize their performance. The AEP provides resources to help FIU Law students succeed in law school, pass the bar examination, and develop strong practice skills, starting in their first semester.
“Deans Ruiz and Schulze went well above and beyond in supporting our graduates during this unprecedented time,” Page said.
FIU Law has finished first in the Florida Bar Exam on six consecutive mid-year bar exams.
In 2020, the college was ranked among the nation’s top 50 public law schools, among the top 10 for evening programs, and sixth for Law School Diversity by U.S. News & World Report. The National Jurist ranked FIU Law No. 11 Best Value Law School.
According to the latest figures, 90 percent of FIU Law graduates are employed in fulltime, longterm jobs that require bar passage or a JD degree, with another 5 percent employed in other fulltime professional positions or seeking master’s degrees.
