GIA Miami names Terry Shapiro new executive VP and partner
Terry Shapiro

Miami’s newest mental-health treatment facility, GIA Miami, has appointed Terry Shapiro as executive vice president and partner.

In this new role, Shapiro will oversee the relationships with community partners in the U.S. and abroad, while assisting in growth of the GIA Miami and Vita Recovery platforms of services to serve more people.

“We are honored to have Terry join our family,” said Francesco Del Governatore, CEO of GIA Miami. “He will be instrumental in the development and expansion of GIA Miami and our sister program Vita Recovery — thanks to his significant experience in the field of mental health.”

Shapiro joined the organization effective Feb. 1.

Dr. Antonello Bonci, executive chairman and founder of GIA Miami, added, “Terry understands the uniqueness of our recovery programs and how treatments like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation therapy [TMS] are helping patients with various mental health issues.”

Shapiro has more than 30 years of experience in the field of addiction and behavioral health, as well as 15 years in executive leadership roles, both in the U.S. and Latin America. He launched his career as a certified drug and alcohol counselor before transitioning into management and executive roles within the industry.

News of Shapiro’s appointment comes on the heels of the launch of Vita Recovery, the sister clinic to GIA Miami, which specializes in comprehensive treatment programs for depression, anxiety, and several other mental health disorders. Both clinics are the brainchild of Dr. Bonci and CHC America (owned by Roberto Ciapparelli and Francesco Del Governatore), with a goal of providing concierge, personalized, and comprehensive wellness programs for adults.

“I am honored and excited about the opportunity to work with such an esteemed doctor as Dr. Antonello Bonci, who has pioneered the field of TMS therapy in Europe and now in the United States,” Shapiro said. “The treatment protocols at GIA Miami are like no other and I look forward to growing and expanding both facilities.”

Prior to joining GIA Miami, Shapiro was a behavioral health advisor for Constellation Behavioral Health and vice president at Origins Behavioral HealthCare. Fluent in Spanish, Shapiro holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Winona State University in Minnesota and a master’s degree in Human Services Counseling from National Louis University in Evanston, IL.

Vita Recovery and GIA Miami are located at 1501 Biscayne Blvd., #200, Miami, FL 33132.
