Global music idol Maluma joins Miami FC at historic home opener

_MG_1430 (1)After months of waiting for the highly anticipated return of professional soccer to Miami, internationally-renowned Colombian music star, Maluma, is scheduled to appear during pre-match and halftime at Miami FC’s home opener on April 9th against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The 22-year-old Latin Grammy nominee will be supporting the Miami FC, managed by Italian legend Alessandro Nesta, by performing at what will be a memorable evening for Miami’s soccer and music fans. With Maluma’s attendance now confirmed, the event is sure to be a major highlight in the clubs inaugural year.

With 10.5 million followers on Instagram, Maluma’s popularity has risen quickly after capturing the attention of Sony Music with his speedy success. Since then, his sophomore album “Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Latin Albums Chart in the U.S. as well as various countries throughout the world. His latest hit “Borro Casette” claimed the number one spot on the Billboard Latin Charts in the U.S. Maluma’s new single “El Perdedor” is currently number one in Mexico and rapidly climbing the charts in the U.S. Confirming his performance, Maluma said:

“I cannot wait to join the team and fans of Miami FC for its home opener. Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved soccer, so I’m honored and excited to be able to perform at the game. It’s going to be a special night and I’m looking forward to being on stage, singing in front of so many fans and seeing Miami FC win its home opener.”

The news of Maluma’s appearance comes after the recent announcement of Miami FC’s youth soccer program initiative. The team has partnered up with the local youth clubs to provide complimentary tickets to all registered youth soccer players for every home game. Friends and family members are eligible to purchase tickets at a discount for $10 a match.

Miami FC is scheduled to have its first home game at Ocean Bank Stadium at FIU against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on April 9 at 8 p.m. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. For the home opener, the club is offering special ticket prices of $10 for adults and $1 for youth tickets. The team invites fans of all ages to come out for this historic event and give a warm welcome to Miami’s professional soccer club as it kicks-off its inaugural season.
