HCA Florida Mercy Hospital donates to Coconut Grove Crisis Food Pantry
HCA Florida Mercy Hospital officials present a “check” representing a $5,000 donation to Coconut Grove Crisis Food Pantry.

Food insecurity affects 1 in 10 American families and HCA Florida Mercy Hospital is supporting the Coconut Grove Crisis Food Pantry in helping the organization provide food to individuals and families who need it the most across our Coconut Grove community.

Hospital CEO David Donaldson, along with several members of our leadership team, presented a donation on behalf of HCA Florida Healthcare to help the pantry provide meals to more than 220 families in the community during this holiday season and throughout the year as part of a nationwide initiative designed to support local foodbanks — Healthy Foods for Healthier Tomorrows.

The number of households served by The Pantry has dramatically increased from 60 households in March 2020 to more than 220 weekly, which is why the pantry depends on donations and the support from community partners like Mercy.

Mercy employees also be dedicated A Day of Service on Tuesday, Nov. 28, to help sort food products for distribution.

The Coconut Grove Crisis Food Pantry was established in 1984 by four sponsoring organizations: Christ Episcopal Church, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and Plymouth Congregational Church.

The Coconut Grove Crisis Food Pantry is located in Gibson Hall at Christ Episcopal Church (The Pink Church), 3475 William Ave. in Coconut Grove. The donation of the spaces gives them a home that is easily accessible to the community.
