Miami Dade College’s (MDC) School of Engineering and Technology (EnTec) hosted nearly 250 high school students from nine local schools at MDC Wolfson Campus for Cybersecurity Day, an opportunity to introduce students to the world of cybersecurity and the technology degree pathways available at MDC.

Students heard from cybersecurity professionals and MDC leadership, and toured the college’s impressive tech facilities, including the Cybersecurity Center of the Americas (designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity by the National Security Agency), the campus’ new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center and its Business Innovation & Technology Center (BIT Center).

Participating schools included Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School, Barbara Goleman Senior High School, Hialeah Gardens High School, iTech Senior High School, John A. Ferguson Senior High School, Miami Beach Senior High School, Miami Lakes Educational Center, Miami Sunset Senior High School and South Miami Senior High School.

With digital technology now playing an essential role in all aspects of our daily lives, growing the cybersecurity workforce has never been more critical. MDC’s Cybersecurity Center of the Americas is dedicated to educating and training the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. The center’s programs — offering degrees and certificates — provide students with hands-on experience in the field, preparing them for successful careers in cybersecurity.
