Larkin School of Nursing has announced the opening of a new program for home health aides.
The innovative nine-week program will equip students with communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining a clean and healthy environment, utilizing proper body mechanics, medical terminology, infection control, and caring for patients with multiple disabilities. Students also will obtain their CPR and HIV/AIDS/OSHA certifications.
“Here at Larkin School of Nursing, we recognized an acute need for home health aides in the South Florida community,” said Dr. Alberto Guerrero, dean. “Our graduates will improve the lives of many patients who can benefit from receiving healthcare services at home. Our connection to a teaching hospital also presents unique learning opportunities and opportunities for innovation in training.”
Home health aides offer vital services to patients and families, often making it possible for patients to remain at home longer and more comfortably.
The program — including fees, books, and tuition — costs $370. Applicants must be 18 years of age, pass a physical, and pass a background check.
