The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami’s (ICA Miami) annual gala, relaunched as “Evening in the Garden,” took place on Saturday, Mar. 8, in the museum’s Sculpture Garden, bringing together Miami’s top business, civic and philanthropic leaders to raise a record $2.5 million in support of ICA Miami’s educational initiatives and commitment to making contemporary art accessible to all.

Proceeds from ICA Miami’s “Evening in the Garden” and the “After Gala Party” fund key educational programs such as the museum’s Young Artists Initiative, Portfolio Prep, Art Prep and ICA Immersive School Tours.

These programs provide workshops, mentorship, and resources designed to meet the diverse needs of the community, especially underserved populations, through collaborations with local organizations and government agencies and aim to inspire and empower individuals through the arts.

The 11th annual gala gathered 300 leaders from across Miami and beyond for an evening in the garden featuring a collaboration with premier auction house Christie’s, which facilitated a live auction benefiting ICA Miami’s mission.

Artist donors for the live auction included Farley Aguilar, Tyler Ballon, Anne Buckwalter, Katerina Caserman, Julia Chiang, Anner Cohen, Beverly Fishman, Paulina Freifeld, Sanaa Gateja, Hugh Hayden, Diego Kohli, Robert Mapplethorpe, Manuel Mathieu, Gabriel Mills, Ken Gun Min, Paulo Nazareth, Umar Rashid, Megan Rooney, Sarah Slappey, Claire Tabouret, Tom Waring, Lawrence Weiner, Robin F. Williams, Jose Zuniga, Calla Henkel and Max Pitegoff.

“The support we’ve received will strengthen our educational initiatives, ensuring that art remains accessible to all and that everyone has the opportunity to experience its transformative power,” said Alex Gartenfeld, ICA Miami’s Irma and Norman Braman artistic director. “The leadership of our honorees, Margot and George Greig, has been instrumental in the museum’s growth and in deepening our connections with the global arts scene. We are incredibly grateful for their continued support, which allows us to thrive and create new opportunities for artists and audiences alike.”

“Evening in the Garden” honored Margot and George Greig, recognizing the couple’s remarkable leadership and unwavering dedication to ICA Miami and the arts community. Margot, who has served as president of ICA Miami’s Board for the past five years, and George have both contributed significantly to the museum’s growth, including the development of key initiatives and programs and the naming of the primary staircase at ICA Miami.

Beyond their work with the museum, the Greigs have supported emerging artists, public health initiatives, and cultural institutions globally, showcasing their profound commitment to creativity in the community and to the museum’s cultural footprint in Miami.

“Evening in the Garden” underscores the community’s commitment to advancing ICA Miami’s mission of promoting continuous experimentation in contemporary art, advancing new scholarship, and fostering the exchange of art and ideas throughout the Miami region and internationally.

With a remarkable track record that includes 94 exhibitions, featuring numerous artists’ museum debuts, the support of over 1,000 artists through exhibitions or acquisitions, and 10 high-impact educational programs — ICA Miami has engaged over 1 million visitors to date.
