Jay Pelham, Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust executive vice president and managing director of Private Banking, has been appointed chair of HistoryMiami, the premier cultural institution committed to gathering, organizing, preserving and celebrating Miami’s history as the unique crossroads of the Americas.
In this role, Pelham will work with the HistoryMiami board, staff, and supporters to oversee the governance of the museum during its 75th year and expansion plans that include new exhibition and education spaces, and an upgraded research and collections center.
Pelham is an accomplished executive with a distinguished 25-year career in commercial and private banking. His current responsibilities include the company’s day-to-day activities of all eight Gibraltar Private offices.

In addition to his impact on banking, Pelham is committed to giving back to the community. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Financial Planning Association of Miami-Dade County and has served as president in the past. In addition, he is a trustee of the United Way of Miami-Dade County and a member of Legal Committee for this year’s campaign.
Pelham earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Tennessee, magna cum laude. He holds the Certified Financial Planner designation and is a member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association Southern District of Florida.
