Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) has expanded its JCS Refugee Assistance Program (J-RAP) to assist individuals and families fleeing Ukraine that are seeking a safe haven in South Florida.
Experienced, trauma-informed professionals are providing intensive care coordination, as well as economic assistance and supportive services to Ukrainians that have traveled to South Florida. JCS is blessed with a rich history of welcoming refugees from the former Soviet Union, Afghanistan, and now, Ukraine.
Upon relocation to South Florida, JCS assesses each family’s immediate needs and provides them with intensive case management, community navigation, nutritional support, as well as financial and referral services. Families are supplied with food packages, food gift cards, assistance with medical needs, childcare, job placement, counseling, and some rental assistance.
“As Ukrainian refugees await further direction on their legal status and pathways to residency, JCS is proud to offer trauma-informed services to those seeking a safe haven in our community,” said Miriam Singer, JCS president and CEO. “Our professional team is aware of the unique challenges refugees face upon arriving in our community. We remain dedicated to supporting them every step of the way.”
