Miami-based singer / songwriter, musical theater composer, and lyricist Jim Camacho will return to the North Miami gem of a listening room the Luna Star Café (775 NE 125 Street, North Miami, FL 33161) on Friday, October 29, 2021, with an intimate concert performance that will also feature special guest opener Brian Jay Cline. Admission price is $10, the event is open to those 21 and over, and the music begins at 8 p.m. It will also be livestreamed on Camacho’s Facebook page, and attendees are encouraged to dress their Halloween best.
“I always love playing the Luna and getting a chance to do it with a fellow artist I admire is a huge plus,” says Camacho, who emerged from his pandemic performance hiatus at the Luna Star Café with a successful benefit show back in May. “I’m looking forward to playing a potpourri of  songs from all phases of my career and having a little spooky musical fun with the audience there and at home.” Camacho has been busy writing new music as a solo artist and member of The Goods, as well as for a new musical currently in development.
Jim also recently recorded the Fred Neil tribute song “Come Back Baby”, which will appear on an upcoming Y&T Records Fred Neil tribute release. He’s currently gearing up for the 8th season of Mouse King, the holiday children’s musical production he co-created with Sesame Street and Jim Henson Company veteran Noel MacNeal. The show will once again run at The Mandelstam Theater in South Miami during mid-December. More information about both projects is forthcoming.
Camacho’s most recent single “When the World Stops Spinning” came out during the pandemic summer of 2020 and served as call for resolve and resilience. Produced by John Carter Cash and recorded at The Cash Cabin in Hendersonville, TN, the song features musical support from Ana Cristina Cash, Jodi Marr and a cast of other notable Country music heavyweights.  It was preceded in the spring by “Going on Faith”, a beautiful ballad that also showcases the vocals of Ana Cristina and the production of John Carter.
The Luna Star has been a staple of the North Miami art scene for 25 years and counting, hosting local and regional artists from a retro / NYC-styled space through performances and open mic nights. With more than 160 beer, wine, and sake labels to choose from, plus a delicious selection of food, the Luna is a no nonsense and no talking listening room. The place is cash only.
