Joseph D. Melchiode named CEO of Mercy Hospital by HCA East Florida

HCA East Florida has announced that Joseph D. Melchiode has been named CEO of Mercy Hospital, a campus of Plantation General Hospital.

Before joining Mercy Hospital, Joseph D. (J.D.) Melchiode served as CEO of University Hospital & Medical Center in Tamarac since 2013.

He previously served for seven years as the chief operating officer at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. Prior to that position, he was the chief operating officer at University Hospital.

Melchiode began his career with HCA in 1995 when he completed his Administrative Residency for his graduate degree at Spring Branch Medical Center in Houston, TX. He served in several capacities in the Gulf Coast Division including Administrative Fellow at the hospital and division level, manager of business development implementing market initiatives, as well as associate administrator and vice president of operations at several Houston area hospitals.

Melchiode completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Texas at Austin and his Master of Healthcare Administration/Master of Business Administration at the University of Houston – Clear Lake. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Melchiode and his wife, Julie, have three children, Noah, Olivia and Lily.
