King Mango Strut returning to Coconut Grove on Jan. 7
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the parade will feature all the color, vibrancy, laughter and mischievousness that has been its hallmark for four decades.

The annual King Mango Strut, Coconut Grove’s famous and most iconic satirical parade, is set to return on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the parade will feature all the color, vibrancy, laughter and mischievousness that has been its hallmark for four decades. To that end, this year’s theme, “I Can’t Get No DeSantisfaction,” is sure to raise a few eyebrows and certainly maintains the parade’s reputation as a tongue-in-cheek, satirical affair.

“The King Mango Strut Parade is an iconic South Florida event and one that has helped Coconut Grove maintain the artistic and creative spirit its always had,” said Nathan Kurland, longtime parade board member and announcer. “This event has become a beloved tradition that pays homage to the lively spirit of Miami and serves as a reminder to all that a life without a laugh isn’t much of a life at all.”

The parade is open free to the public. Parade organizers welcome all comedians, amateurs and performers to consider participating in the parade itself; applications to do so can be found at https://www.kingmangostrut.org/.

As always, onlookers are encouraged to wear their most creative costumes and embrace the parade’s madcap ethos to “celebrate and skewer what’s weird and wonderful about Miami and the year that was.”

It all takes place on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024 from 2 to 6 p.m. through the heart of Coconut Grove.

Schedule:
2 p.m.: Little Miss Mango participants are selected from the crowd of onlookers and meet on the corner of Main Highway and Commodore Plaza.

2- 4 p.m.: The King Mango Strut begins at Commodore Plaza and makes the left turn onto Main Highway until it reaches the Grand Avenue/McFarlane intersection. From there it makes the left turn onto Grand Avenue until it reaches Commodore Plaza. The afterparty begins at Commodore Plaza.

4-6 p.m.: After the parade, there will be a block party for volunteers and participants.

Starting at 4 p.m., RoadKill and the Coconut Grove School of Rock Band takes center stage on Commodore Plaza, and Afro Beta plays on Fuller Street for guests to enjoy, along with more surprises.

The 40th annual King Mango Strut event is brought to you by the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization King Mango Productions Inc. Visit the website at www.kingmangostrut.org or telephone 305-323-7826.
