During this month March, National Women’s History Month is celebrated in a variety of ways by schools, civic groups, and community organizations across the country. Here locally, North Miami-based Ladies of Valor Empowerment (L.O.V.E.) truly embodies the spirit of this celebration by hosting its 5th Annual “Women Who Dare with L.O.V.E.” event.

On March 4 at 10 a.m., in collaboration with the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus-Downtown Miami, L.O.V.E. will pay tribute to the extraordinary achievements of American women by hosting a free, fun-filled day of inspiration and empowerment.

The event commences with a performance of a renowned female violinist from the ground floor to the Auditorium performing the song “You Raise Me Up” while escorting by woman leaders from the community. Upon arriving in the Auditorium itself, the choir will be performing the National Anthem by the young women of Youth of Valor Empowerment (Y.O.V.E.), along with the City of North Miami Honor Guards presenting the colors, followed by a presentation of one Maya Angela’s best poems by four of the Y.O.V.E.s.

The highlight of the event opening is a “photo-op” procession consisting of all the Y.O.V.E. being escorted for the event by the individual woman leaders from the community [named below]. The Wolfson Campus Auditorium is located at 300 NE 2 Ave., 2nd Floor, Miami FL 33131

Gaining Confidence & Readiness

“Our Women’s History event is a shining opportunity to raise awareness of the important work of our dedicated members and the lasting impact they have on the lives of thousands of underprivileged women and at-risk teenage girls in our community,” said Dr. Alourdes Pierre, President and CEO of L.O.V.E. This event along with other L.O.V.E. and Y.O.V.E. programs and training throughout the year serve to instill vital knowledge and confidence to achieve self-sufficiency through employment and leadership development.

“It is our hope and desire that the young ladies attending this annual celebration will gain greater confidence and readiness to start a new chapter in their professional lives,” Dr. Pierre continued.

“Of course, through public awareness of our work, we are also excited about the possibility of attracting prominent female leaders to get involved in the Y.O.V.E. Mentorship Program. After all, there is nothing more rewarding than being able to make a lasting impression on the youth of our community – that our young women can and will succeed in their lives and careers when given proper direction and an abundance of opportunity.”

In keeping with its mission to inspire underprivileged women and girls of all ages to achieve personal and professional success, L.O.V.E. will also salute Mayor Daniella Cava who is scheduled to attend this event.
